Even if you’re going on holiday over the festive season you can still keep running – and see some amazing sights while you’re at it.
It’s a day that has been coming for a while, that you’ve been looking forward to like a kid looks forward to Christmas, and yet the actual date has been uncertain… which only magnifies the anxiety and excitement. So when the day finally does arrive you feel an extra spring in your stride, and simple joy in heading out the door for a run. It’s blissful.
For runners, training is the part of the equation where we spend inordinate amounts of time pounding the paths in pursuit of fitness, enjoyment, a release, new routes and good times. For some it’s all they need – running can be like that. Another part of the running equation are races, which provide the motivation for goals and the reward of achievement when you finish. Just see all the photos on Facebook of friends with smiles on their faces and medals around their necks after a big event.
Months have now passed since the end of the Australian domestic track season. This, however, was just the beginning for some. Its been exciting to read and hear about the persistence and dedication of the many Australian athletes who have been competing all year with one goal; London 2012. Their attitude gives me more and more motivation to work harder in the approach to the 2012/13 track season.
Kenya and Ethiopia currently rule the world in distance running. The winners of the Kenyan (at seas level in Oregon) and Ethiopian (at sea level in England) Olympic trials ran a tick over 27 minutes for 10000m. Thus it will be a prerequisite to be able to run that sort of pace in the Olympic final in London in 4 weeks if anyone wants to be competitive.

Team Calibre supported by New Balance once again lined up in the 2012 edition of the Brisbane Trailwalker on Friday 15th June.
The team, all decked out in New Balance gear was unchanged from our win in the 2011 event and we were keen to replicate this with a time faster than the 11hrs 58 inaugural result.

New Breed Running, via Runner’s Tribe, is pleased to announce that Athletics Australia (AA) have selected both Jeff Hunt and Martin Dent to represent Australia at the London Olympics marathon. Hunt and Dent will join Michael Shelley who will combine together forming a strong treble to represent the green and gold.
